Golden shaded, chinchilla, silver and point: what each colour means, why these kittens are so sought after and what they cost at our cattery.
Home / Journal / Golden and silver British cat price
Golden and silver British cats are the most sought-after colours of the breed: a glowing undercoat, fine tipping and green eyes (blue in the point varieties). Solette has bred British cats for more than thirteen years, specialising in these lines, and our golden and silver kittens start from €1000.
How much is a golden or silver British kitten?
At our Barcelona cattery prices start at €1000 for a kitten with a WCF pedigree, vaccinations, microchip, health passport and vet check. The final price depends on the exact colour, sex and individual qualities, and we always confirm it before you reserve. Full details in British Shorthair kitten price in Barcelona.
Golden and silver colours explained
| EMS code | Colour | Look |
|---|---|---|
| ny 11 | Golden shaded | Warm cream-gold undercoat with heavier black tipping than shell. |
| ny 12 | Golden shell (golden chinchilla) | Very fine tipping; a lighter, luminous cat. |
| ns 11 / ns 12 | Silver shaded / silver shell | Silvery-white undercoat with black tipping. |
| as 11 33 | Blue silver shaded point | Blue-silver with darker mask and points. |
Why these colours are harder to breed
A good golden or silver needs a clean undercoat without bars or spots, even tipping and the right eye colour (green, or blue in the point varieties). That takes careful pairing over generations, which is why the line matters as much as the kitten itself.

Golden or silver: how to choose
Temperament is the same in every colour: calm, affectionate and independent. The choice is mostly aesthetic. Golden feels warm; silver feels elegant. If you're unsure, we'll send you videos of both.
